Welcome back babes! Today I’m talking about all things makeup, specifically for us oily skin girlies! I know it can be so frustrating to find products that keep us from being oily all day, but after years of research (and working at Macy’s) I’ve finally found some products that keep me Matte and oil-free all day long!

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil Free Foundation $27
I began using this Clinique medium-coverage foundation my senior year of high school (5 years ago), and amongst one of the very first high-end foundations I wore, I absolutely swear by it to this day. One of my favorite things about it is that it is oil-free, ensuring a Matte look for 8 hours at the very least (hence the name “Stay-Matte”). Additionally, in my experience, it is not so Matte that it looks dry, or gives the illusion of dry skin.
On top of that, as someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin, this is the only foundation that has never broken me out. Being Clinique, an extremely well-established skin-care brand, it is of course non-acnegenic and dermatologist tested. That means, with oily skin being the most acne-prone skin type, this foundation is ideal for most of us.
Smashbox Photo-Finish Primer $15-33
I’ve been using this primer for about 3 years now and it is my absolute favorite primer that I’ve used. What’s funny about this is that I was recently told that the original product made for oily skin is the Smashbox Photo-Finish for Minimizing pores. However, after trying a sample, I found that this one worked so much better. The other one left my skin feeling a lot more oily!
What I love about it is that it gives my foundation a very smooth and flawless finish. On top of that, I find that as long as I moisturize my face before applying makeup (which should always be done, especially if you have oily skin), my skin does not get oily by the end of the workday.
A little goes a long way, that’s why I’ve linked the smaller + cheaper tube. Since I wear makeup maybe 2-5 times a week, I find that I only need to buy a new one tube every 4-6 months. However, if you wear makeup everyday, you might consider purchasing the bigger tube.
Smashbox has just released a new addition to this collection called oil and shine control (not available until 7/26) I will update this post with more details as soon as I am able to try it.
Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray $15-$33
The holy grail All-Nighter setting spray. While Urban Decay’s De-slick setting spray is supposed to be better made to suit oily skin, I’ve found that All-Nighter works SO much better. This weightless spray is suitable for ALL skin types, so no harm done by using this instead. What I love about this product is that it keeps my make up in tact all day + night long. I’ve gone to concerts and nightclubs wearing this spray and have come home to find that my makeup looks just as good as before I left.
I find that the smaller bottle lasts me about 6 months, and have linked it here.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder 39$
Last but not least, the Laura Mercier translucent powder is definitely one of my favorites. I think it reached peak popularity a couple of years back after a lot of influencers mentioned it in their YouTube videos/instagram post. I use this product specifically for baking and setting. I find that not only does this product give me a flawless finish, but reduces the appearance of shine and oil all day long!
BUT, I know that this price is pretty steep, especially for a young college student for me– even when I had a discount at Macy’s. So I have also linked both Airpspun Translucent Powder (amazon affiliate link) and Makeup Revolution Translucent powder (amazon affiliate link), which are two cheaper products I’ve used, and have seen no notable differences to the Laura Mercier.
Oily skin can be frustrating, but luckily, we are in the age of makeup, which makes controlling it that much easier!
